Our school is very inclusive and our governors are very dedicated.
Our governors are a group of dedicated volunteers, made up of parents, members of the community and staff, who work to hold the school to account for the achievement of its pupils, ensure financial regularity and help the school to develop over time.
We have three categories of governor:
Parents or carers of children who are currently attending Parkwood with a particular interest in pupil attainment as well as bringing skills from their roles outside school.
Members of the community (which may include current parents) who bring particular skills to our governing body and usually fulfil another role in the local community, business or public life.
One member of teaching staff, the head teacher and a senior member of the administrative staff help to provide information on the workings of school and feed back on actions that the school has taken in response to governor direction.
Governors meet regularly, with full governing body meetings taking place every half term and two committees (resources and curriculum) also meeting once per half term. The governing body also form smaller sub committees for managing the head teacher’s performance management, staff discipline, responding to parent complaints and responding to emergency situations.
The governing body recruits new members as and when required. Parents should follow the school Newflash for information and prospective co-opted governors are welcome to email the school, at any time, to express their interest.
