The School Day

The school day starts at 08:45. This means children need to be in school BEFORE 08:45 in order to make the most of their learning. If your child walks to school on their own, make sure they leave with plenty of time to get to school and remind them to hurry!

Amazing News—End of Phase Pupils Outomces

This week, we received official notification of our pupil outcomes (results for Early Years, Phonics, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2) from Hackney  Learning Trust, along with a comparison to the rest of the schools in Hackney.  We knew we had done well, but we were amazed to find that Parkwood was one of the top five schools in all four categories, including being the second best school in Hackney at Key Stage One and the third best at Key Stage Two, both in line with the very difficult new National Curriculum. Best of all, though, was the news the we are the ONLY school to be in the top five for ALL FOUR areas. Which means PARKWOOD IS THE BEST ALL ROUND SCHOOL IN HACKNEY. Well done everyone!

European Languages Day

On Monday 26th September we will be celebrating European Languages Day at Parkwood with parents and  children reading stories to various classes in different European languages. If you missed the letter and would still like to contribute, please let your child’s class teacher know on Monday morning. I am sure they will be able to fit you in during the afternoon.

Breakfast Club

We still offer a breakfast club EVERY DAY. The club remains free of charge, but we welcome voluntary donations. Remember that we provide a healthy breakfast for your child so all you need to do is bring them to school any time from 7:30-8:15 am.

Scooters and Bikes

We have a lot of new children this year, so it is time to remind everyone that we ask ALL children to walk their scooters, bikes and trikes through the playground at the start and end of the school day. We have had a number of small accidents lately and we do not want anyone to be badly hurt.

FOP news

Please make sure you put  Monday 10th October in your diary.  This is the first Friends of Parkwood meeting for the new school year.  It will be in the music room around the back of the school. Everyone is really welcome and refreshments are always provided.  Time is 8pm until 9.30.   We are still short of class reps in Reception, Years 3 and 4 and Year 6.  Please consider if you could spare some time occasionally to support your children's class and the school.  Please get in touch - contact details below.
