The School Day

Please remember that the school gate is open from 08:30. You can bring children in from 08:30 which gives you a better chance of being on time for school. If you aim to arrive at 08:45, your child will probably be late for school.

Congratulations to Y6 for making through their KS2 SATS this week.  The children showed a mature and sensible attitude to what can be a very stressful week. They are now looking forward to their trip to Kench Hill next week and the chance to let off some steam. No matter how well they do in their SATS, we are incredibly proud of their hard work, positive attitude and dedication to doing their best in all walks of school life. Well done Y6!

Walk To School Week

Next week, 15th-19th May, is national walk to school week. Please join us in encouraging children to walk to school every day next week. Try to avoid the temptation of the car, if you live less than a 20 minute walk away. Walking is healthy, easy and free. Give it a try!

School Funding Cuts

On Friday 26th of May (the school's INSET day) there will be an assembly in Clissold Park from 4pm.

It will be parents, carers, children, students, friends and grandparents of local Hackney schools meeting in Clissold Park to demonstrate against the cuts to school funding. There’ll be mini-marches from schools to the park (with lots of colourful banners), activities for children and a big picnic. (bring your own snacks). We hope to see lots of you there.

FOP News

Lara (nursery) is inviting all parents who have green fingers to come and help out with the further developments at Forest School which will be available to all children (keystage 1 & 2) in the following months. If you can volunteer some time, she will be there Sunday 28th May: 11am-2pm and Monday 29th May: 10am-2pm.

Please note that as it will involve dangerous tools and access to open water children will not be permitted on-site at these times.

The year 1 fundraiser: bag decorating and cake sale was a great success and raised about £200! There will be another opportunity to decorate a bag at this year's summer fair too!

Don’t forget: Summer Fair on Sat 1st July! We need you to approach local businesses for a donation of a prize to our raffle and nearer the date donations of food and drink for the fair. Ask Halina/Liz/ Laura for more info.

Could you Share one of our committee roles with us? Could you take on 50% of the role of Chair, or Treasurer or Secretary? Please help us make it possible for FoP to continue.

If you haven't joined yet, click link below for our Friends of Parkwood What’s App group! Or text Laura on 07909591898.

Thank you! Friends of Parkwood (FoP; Halina, Liz & Laura)
